An entertaining January 2016 lies ahead at Roscommon Arts Centre as the new season of events kicks off. The latest programme is filled to the brim with exciting theatre, music, and comedy.

AS 2015 draws to a close, the Galway Arts Centre is gearing up for another year of exhibitions, education programmes, and events, with the current exhibition, Unbounded, running until January 16, featuring sculptural work by Ruth E Lyons and Angela Fulcher.

Anthony O’Boyle takes the audience on a nostalgic look back at Christmas in a small rural village in the west of Ireland with his latest show, Christmas Memories, showing on Saturday, December 5, in the Roscommon Arts Centre.

Opera Theatre Company are Ireland’s national touring opera company and they are returning to Roscommon Arts Centre on November 18 with two short operas, Susanna’s Secret and The Human Voice both sung in English.  

TODAY SEES the opening of the 19th Baboró International Arts Festival for Children opens in Galway, and for the next seven days, children and families can enjoy a creative extravaganza of theatre, puppetry, dance, music, animation, exhibitions and workshops.

Legends of Irish music and song The Fureys, renowned for their hit songs ‘I will love you’, ‘When you were sweet 16’, ‘The green fields of France’, ‘Red rose café’, and ‘Steal away’ will be performing in concert in Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday, October 2 at 8pm. 

FOR THOSE of us blessed with kids, or who can borrow kids, a highlight of the year is the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. So it was with great delight that your trusty correspondent attended the Monday evening launch for this year’s festival where details of the 2015 programme were unveiled.
